FROM ATOMIC SCALE TO TECHNOLOGY

Dr. Ahmed is a nanophysicist with expertise spanning the full arc of technology development — from quantum-scale materials physics through device design, process integration, and manufacturing.

Before entering academia, he spent close to a decade as a senior R&D engineer at Intel Corporation, where he developed a working knowledge of how atomic-scale properties translate into device performance, yield, and scalable production — the bridge between fundamental science and the factory floor that most computational researchers never cross.

He is a tenured Associate Professor at SUNY Buffalo State University, founder of the Center for Integrated Studies in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CISNN), and served four years as a Visiting Faculty at the Department of Energy.

ANGSTROM TO EMBASSY

His research program connects atom-scale discovery to the policy and market realities that determine whether those discoveries reach the world.

50+ Peer-Reviewed Papers
3 Pending Patents
4 Years Visiting Faculty

Research Program

His research program — Angstrom to Embassy — applies density functional theory, machine learning, and ab initio molecular dynamics across multiple frontier domains: energy (perovskite solar devices and Mg and Na-ion battery kinetics), semiconductors, quantum materials (probing phenomena such as valleytronics), and optoelectronics.

Professional Impact

He is a Senior Fellow at the US Manufacturing Innovation Council, has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers, holds three pending patents, and serves as an expert on multiple professional societies and journal platforms including the Editorial Board of Nature.
